Football speaks in signs

Event

Special guided tour for people with hearing impairments.

What does celebrating with raised arms signify? How do players communicate on the pitch without words? In this special tour for people with hearing impairments, we focus on the signs, gestures and non-verbal forms of expression used in football – inspired by sign language.

Together, we will explore visual communication and silent strategies in the game, from the historical hand signals used by referees to the creative communication from the fans in the stands. We will also examine the question: How inclusive is football today?

The tour is accompanied by sign language.

All interested parties, with or without hearing impairments, are warmly welcome!

You can register by emailing edu@fifamuseum.org or in person at the ticketing desk. Spaces are limited.

Dates: Saturday, 20 September 2025 & Sunday, 28 September 2025

Time: 11:00-12:30

Language: German with sign language translation

Participation: free with a valid museum ticket

The tours take place on the occasion of Sign Language Day.
