Zurich, 3 June – As Switzerland prepares to host the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, the FIFA Museum in Zurich is honouring the country’s women’s football history with a new pop-up exhibition: Here to Play – The History of Women’s Football in Switzerland. The exhibition offers a powerful look at over 100 years of Swiss women’s football, from early moments of grassroots courage to its current presence on the global stage.

Building on the museum’s commitment to documenting and celebrating different aspects of the global game, Here to Play places the story of Swiss women’s football at its centre, highlighting both the pioneering achievements and the perseverance that shaped the sport across generations. Curated around a selection of powerful and historically significant objects, many of which are being shown to the public for the first time, the exhibition bridges past and present.

Additionally, an interactive touchscreen experience invites visitors to explore the biographies of 14 influential figures in Swiss women’s football. From early trailblazers like Florida Pianzola and Nicole Petignat to more recent players like Ana-Maria Crnogorčević and Ramona Bachmann, these personal stories highlight the changing landscape of women’s football over time.

“Stories like these remind us that football is more than a game,” says Marco Fazzone, Managing Director of the FIFA Museum. “With Here to Play, we’re not just looking back; we’re giving long-overdue visibility to the women who built Swiss women’s football from the sidelines up. Their courage and commitment laid the groundwork for today’s successes, and we can’t wait to share their stories with our visitors.”

The pop-up exhibition is included with regular museum admission and can be visited from 3 June until 17 August.
