FIFA Museum welcomes Czechia U-17s
The Czech men’s U-17 national team had a fun and interactive visit to the FIFA Museum recently. The future stars of the Czech game delighted in delving into football history and showcasing their skills – with both a ball and a microphone!
After admiring The Rainbow, our colour-themed display of national-team shirts, Pavel Drsek’s side learnt more about football’s origins and development at The Timeline. Next up, they explored our extensive showcases. Of course, one of the highlights was getting up close to the FIFA World Cup™ and FIFA Women’s World Cup™ trophies. The visitors were equally inspired by the Wall of Champions, our iconic tribute to the players who have won world football’s two biggest prizes.
Having feasted their eyes, it was time for the teenagers to get hands- and feet-on. After doing their best commentator impressions, the bright prospects showed off their ball skills. Besides enjoying some football pinball and table football, they also tried their luck inside the skills.lab Cube at our Football Fever special exhibition space.
The Czechs were in Zurich ahead of a UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualifier against Switzerland. The visit clearly proved a good warm-up for the game, as they beat the Swiss 3-1 in Baden on Tuesday, 25 March. The result clinched Czechia’s spot at this year’s U-17 EURO, while both teams have qualified for the FIFA U-17 World Cup™ in Qatar this November.
