Here to Play – The History of Women’s Football in Switzerland

The FIFA Museum is adding another chapter to its historical account of women's football. From 3 June to 17 August, a pop-up exhibition in Zurich will tell the story of women's football in Switzerland.
The exhibition intertwines the achievements of the Swiss national team today with those of the pioneers, with selected objects establishing the connections between past and the present. Among the items on display are a wooden plate given to Madeleine Boll in 1965 in lieu of her playing licence being withdrawn, and the captain's armband worn by Lia Wälti in Switzerland's Nations League match against France on 4 April 2025.
Additionally, an interactive touchscreen presents the biographies and careers of 14 influential figures in Swiss women's football, including Béatrice von Siebenthal, Ana-Maria Crnogorčević, and Iman Beney.
These biographies offer personal insights into the hundred-year history of women's football in Switzerland, taking visitors on a chronological digital journey through some of its biggest moments.
The pop-up exhibition 'Here to Play: The History of Women's Football in Switzerland' is included in the museum admission price and will be open from 3 June to 17 August 2025.
